Clear Seas Centre for Responsible Marine Shipping is an independent research organization dedicated to promoting safe and sustainable marine shipping across the country. The centre provides impartial information to policymakers and the public, focusing on the human, environmental, and economic impacts of marine shipping. Their mandate includes initiating and interpreting research, analyzing policies, identifying best practices, sharing information, and facilitating dialogue.
Clear Seas’ research encompasses the safe handling of bulk commodities at marine terminals, the impacts of oil and liquefied natural gas shipping, spill prevention and response, and the effects on coastal and Indigenous communities. Collaborating with Indigenous groups, stakeholders, and experts, Clear Seas aims to identify knowledge gaps, share existing study results, and facilitate new research to ensure accurate, up-to-date information is available to decision-makers.
